There are several things to consider here - the overall cost, and the resources provided for the cost.

A review of Rosetta Stone Latin from reddit, left by a Latin teacher:
I have been teaching Latin for two years and my school purchased Rosetta Stone... Some of my students finished all three levels (about 120 hours worth of work). We are discontinuing use of Rosetta Stone this year.
The problems are pretty enormous:
The software uses a lot of modern words (computatorium - computer, raeda - car, birota - bicycle) for the bulk of its material. You're not going to learn a lot of useful vocabulary for translation of ancient material.
The grammar lessons do exist, but don't ever explain themselves so you're left guessing about the uses of many of the noun cases and verb tenses. This is especially difficult if you don't already have a really solid grasp on Latin grammar (completely defeating the purpose of the software).
